Power struggle harms flower business

January 19, 2015

The unstable political situation settled in the Gaza Strip has lead to disorganization of previously successful flower business of this region. The disorganization of this economic sector shaping since 2007 has begun gradually increasing after the Islamic group Hamas had taken control over these territories, while Israel had toughened its blockade. Almost 50 million flowers had been exported, but the last season had only 2.5 million items sold. It is obvious that such a significant drop of export proves fatal to the Palestine economy.
